Two low -to-moderate income communities in Brunswick are currently under rehabilitation. These two projects were made possible by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).
Alvis Road, located in the Meherrin District, will see improvements to eleven households. The project area will be cleared of junk, debris, weeds, inoperable vehicles and dilapidated structures. CDBG awarded Brunswick County a total of $519,925 to improve the living conditions of these households. Construction is scheduled in the very near future.
Flat Rock Road, located in Red Oak District, will see rehabilitation of twenty-three households and four vacant dilapidated units will be demolished. The entire project area will experience a major clean-up. $956,088 was awarded by CDBG to complete this rehabilitation. Construction is currently underway with improvements to several houses already completed.
